Marvel's The Avengers! A Review

They really are Earth's Mightiest Heroes!  I just finished watching the movie and I have nothing negative to say about it.  It had the right mix of action, awesomeness, actors and humor all directed and written by no less than the geek-genius, Joss Whedon.   Marvel has created a great film franchise with the Avengers and we surely want to see more of it(wink, of course there will be more).

The film was able to balance the characters so that no one would appear superior to anyone.  From the point where they all met for the first time, you would notice the disparity between the personalities and background of each character.  After seeing those first few scenes at home base, you would know that the film will just get better till the very last scene.  The clash of heroes sure made the film interesting to watch and the build up to the turning point when they all finally got the push to work together will make you appreciate why they call themselves The Avengers.  The action scenes were delicious, the funny scenes were really funny and the level of awesomeness of the characters were highlighted very well.  I'm gonna watch this movie a few more times for sure.

What I don't get is that most of the audience immediately left after the last scene.  Non-fans? Maybe. By now we should all know that the snippet to the next movie is one of the trademarks of this movie franchise (Also, nobody but myself reacted when Stan Lee made his cameo appearance in the movie. How sad I was smiling all by myself).

So the next villain will be....

It will be hard to notice who that character is and I won't spoil it for you!  I really do recommend everyone to watch the movie but not in 3D.  Not a fan of 3D glasses. LOL

Oh and the most important review: Cobie Smulders is a great choice for Maria Hill. :)

Watch it already!

Ready To Assemble on April 25

April 25 is a big day for Marvel geeks cause it will be the first day of showing of The Avengers movie.

Building Up
It took some years before Marvel was able to introduce several of the original members of the Avengers like the Hulk(2003/2008), Iron Man(2008/2010), Captain America(2011) and Thor(2011) through movies.  We also have Nick Fury, Black Widow, Phil Coulson and Hawk-eye who appeared in the introductory movies as well.  Personally, I'm excited for Cobie Smulders who will be playing Agent Maria Hill.  She's gonna kick ass.

One question is, will the Wasp and Ant-man appear in the movie?  I read some months ago about rumors about this although we never saw them in the trailers.  Plus, if you check out the Avengers' IMDB page, you won't see them in the cast list. I guess we won't see them in this movie.

This is it!
We've seen hints carefully placed within the scenes of the past movies, post-credit teasers and numerous trailers on what director Joss Whedon has been cooking for us.  I have a feeling it will be a delicious action packed movie with a lot of awesomeness. LOL.  I'm sure we all have high hopes for this movie and the hype is just off the hook.

By hook or crook, the Geekosaur will watch the Avengers on the first day of showing.  My new mighty wallet is ready for it.

Avengers Assemble!

Love Is A Four Letter Word says Mr. A to Z

Got a hold of Jason Mraz's new album.  Been a fan of this guy since his Waiting For My Rocket To Come but I sort of got sick of the song I'm Yours cause it has been in the airwaves for too long (though it really is a great song).  Nevertheless, his new album called Love Is A Four Letter Word just got released and people seem to have mixed views on it.

Personally I think it's a great album.  It talks about love (obviously) but not the lovey-dovey kind that most people might think.  We've heard I Won't Give Up (which got released earlier this year) so I'm sure everyone has an idea of what kind of songs to expect from the album.  At the end of the day,  I'm sure his innate musical prowess will get everyone memorizing his song even with the complicated wordplay he puts in the lyrics; cause clearly that is something that we have learned to love about the guy and that is one of his trademarks.

I leave you with the only song Jason Mraz didn't write in his new album.. The Freedom Song

Ozine Fest 2012

My cousin is a big fan of Anime so as much as I can I take her to cosplay events in Manila.  Today we went to SM Megamall particularly at Megatrade Halls 1 and 2 for the Ozine Fest 2012.   The experience was a bit chaotic cause there were a lot of kids running around (Yes, I'm feeling old everyday) and there were too many people who attended the event.

There were booths selling action figures and Anime stuff like DVDs, shirts and accessories.  I really wanted to buy all these Marvel character coin banks.
495 Pesos

The best part of the whole Ozine Fest 2012 experience was the action figure "exhibit."  It seriously made me want to be a collector.

Of course I loved the section where characters from Square Enix were displayed.  I'll be posting a few here. (Just click on the photos to make them bigger)
Balthier - Final Fantasy 12
Cloud - Final Fantasy 7
Roxas - Kingdom Hearts Series
Glad that my camera worked fine during the event.  I'm pretty happy with the photos I took.  Oh yeah, here are more action figures that I saw there.

CC fro Code Geass
Snake from the Metal Gear game series
Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass
Next time I should take more photos of the cosplayers than action figures.  I saw a particular cosplayer that I should've captured in a photo! LOL.  Too bad.  Oh well, better luck next time.

Agito Kids
Til the next cosplay event!

PAC-MAN The Movie (Another Awesome Fan-Made Movie)

Clearly, fans with extraordinary capabilities do it better.

Remember He(PAC-MAN) prefers cherries..

Rurouni Kenshin's 2-Part Original Video Anime

So I downloaded this new 2-part Samurai X OVA entitled Rurouni Kenshin: Shin Kyoto-Hen Zenpen Homura no Ori (Rurouni Kenshin : New Kyoto Arc Part I: Cage of Flames) that was released in Japan last December 2011.

The legendary scar!

This is set during Kenshin Himura's battles with Makoto Shishio but will be told from Misao Makimachi's point of view.  I haven't seen the movie but the fans really seem to like it.

That's Misao!

Not sure when the second part will be released.  Hopefully, fans will be able to watch part 2 before the Rurouni Kenshin live action movie that is set to be released on August 25, 2012.

Game Of Thrones: Season 2 Episode 2 Leaked

So like the leaked episodes of Avatar: Legend of Korra, the second episode of the highly anticipated George RR Martin creation Game of Thrones: Season 2 a.k.a A Clash of Kings has leaked. The episode entitled The Night Lands is already up for those who cannot wait another week without GoT.

Apparently the episode was leaked in the Dutch HBO Go. Stream links and torrents are already up. Some say that the Dothraki conversations don't have English subtitles. Now that would be a shame for those who don't take time to learn Dothraki. I haven't watched the episode yet I just wanted to verify if it is indeed different than the first episode cause it might be a late April Fool's prank. It's legit!

To end this post I say in Dothraki..
Anha zhilat Vilajerosh Adori.

Figure it out geeks.
